As part of our ongoing support for immigrants in Sonoma County, we are invited to support the efforts taking place in Santa Rosa by the Sonoma Sanctuary Coalition and Raizes Collective, who have been advocating for an ICE FREE ZONE. The current call to action is taking place today - December 15, and we apologize for the late notice. We are sharing this information from the Raizes Collective for those of you who wish to support this effort. “On Monday, December 15, 2025, 3:30-5pm, Board of Supervisors Building, 650 Administration, in Santa Rosa, Immigrant rights groups and their allies will hold a “Posada-like” walk inside the building to request entry into the scheduled, monthly meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on Immigrant Issues, an official body on which they regularly participate. “The Supervisors want to explicitly exclude the Sheriff from the Non-Collaboration Ordinance,” explains Gabriela Hernandez, Co-Coordinator of ALMAS LIBRES, an Immigrant women’s group leading the event. “When the community rejected their proposal, they retaliated against us by disinviting us from the regularly-scheduled meeting, where we believed discussions would continue.” The “Posada” participants will search for the meeting room, singing traditional “Posada” songs. “In our countries of origin, participants of “Posadas” not only celebrate the upcoming Christmas, but also, through song, re-enact Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter.” says Isabel Lopez, Executive Director of Raizes Collective. “We will search for the meeting and request entry.” WHAT: Posada Procession through the Sonoma County Supervisors Building WHEN: Monday, December 15, 2025, 3:30-5pm WHERE: 650 Administration Dr., in Santa Rosa WHY: Sonoma Supervisors retaliate against Immigrant Rights groups for not accepting watered-down “Non-Collaboration-With-ICE” Ordinance”
